Small Editorial:

This is going to sound like I am talking out of both sides of my mouth...But know that if you are buying the OM-22 for use with #2 Fuel Oil you will need to clean and service the unit each and every year just like any #2 Furnace.

I use #2 on my OM-22 and I have to clean about every 3-4 months. It isn't too difficult to take apart but may require some bandades due to all the sharp edges inside

Here's another complaint from Sarah:
 I had this carbon build-up problem on a brand-new OM-22 stove (ran for a week) and now it is a $200 repair. The warranty does not appear to cover this issue (isn't that convenient) despite the fact that it has to have arrived with this problem. Has anyone else encountered this in a new stove?

(Forget about #2 fuel - Use K-1 and it will run flawlessly- Al).

#2 Fuel Oil varies so much around the Country (and getting worse all the time) that the #2 Fuel Oil Standard is so low that it can soot-up the OM-22. Further more...the caustic acids in #2 fuel can eat out the burning chamber - isn't that exciting.

The damage from the #2 Oil acids has been so extensive that ALL the Toyo Heater Exhaust Metals AND the Extension Kit and Extension Exhausts have had to be coated with TEFLON so as not to 'rot out' because of the #2 acids. However...Neither the Pot nor Combustion chamber have been coated - What will happen to the Inside of the Heater itself if you use #2 Fuel Oil with all of its caustic and destructive acids? - I personally would not give 1/2 of the life to the OM-22 as the Laser 55/56 which have been in SUBERB service for up to 15 years.

I am NOT so anxious to sell a Heater that I need problems - and neither do you. Do not buy the OM-22 unless you are looking for LOTS of service and maybe some parts replacement in 1/2 the time of the Toyo56 because of Acidic #2 Fuel!

I do NOT sell out to the Factory or anyone else - I own MY balls. How many of you sell-out just to keep a 'job' and do whatever 'The Boss' says..?

Just a quick note:

If you are smarter than I am, and choose to use #2 fuel (with its caustic acids) Like all other #2 Heaters...The Om-22 will need to have a Thorough-cleaning every year (or sooner) to get rid of the ash, creosote and carbon in the pot, ignitor, heat-exchaner and on the Flame-detector - And I still believe it will ONLY last 1/2 the time as the WELL-PROVEN Toyo56. The OM-22 is a light-weight heater compared to the Heavy -duty/Long-lasting Toyo L56.
