When Al's Heating originally became a Monitor Kerosene Heater Dealer in 1989, we were always told by the Distributor that the Monitor Heaters were #1 and that the Toyo Heaters were of lesser quality - and being Newby's on the block to these types of Free-Standing Kerosene Heaters we believed Our Supplier. And for several years until the Advent in 1994 of the Monitor 441/422 Heaters we did just fine with Monitor Kerosene Heaters. They required only occasional cleanings to run very well - although we replaced a LOT (that means A LOT$$$) of Flame Rings and Burner Mats which we were told by The Distributor was 'normal'.

Then when the 441 and 422 Monitor Kerosene Heater came out we had trouble right out of the box (Please click here for Editorial).

Feeling that We were being bamboozled (we had heard that the Distributor was making a Killing on the Monitors and was somehow in league with the Monitor Importer=$$$) we started looking carefully into the Toyo Line of Kerosene Heaters and discovered that They were on the same par with the former 40/41 and 21/22 Monitor Heaters - on other words...The Toyo's were not only just FINE but far and away better than the new Monitor 441 and 422 Heaters which cost up to $750.00 to rebuild compared to $350.00 for the Toyo and the Toyo's lasted twice as long before needing any major service!!!

Al's Heating was at one time a Staunch-defender of the Monitor Kerosene Heater line (and one of the largest dealers in the Country at one time); but because we now see so many Complaints, Problems and Repairs with Monitor, we ONLY suggest The Toyo Direct Vent Kerosene Heater - and do our Customers love them! With Monitor...we see repairs, with Toyo we only see happy customers!
