We used to sell the Empire Heater (Similar to Cozy, Orbis, Perfection) Heaters for those who wanted a Heater for Emergency or Non-electric use (electric outage, camps, etc.).

These Large-flue Heaters are basic old-style heaters - NOT a sophisticated Electronic Heating Appliance such as the Rinnai (the Empire type 4"-8" exhaust vent Emits 'TONS' of waste heat compared to the Rinnai 1" exhaust vent). These old-style Heaters use more fuel, are noisier and MUCH less comfortable than a Rinnai. Our customers attest that the Empire and other old-style gas heaters use up to twice as much fuel and costs twice as much to run as the Rinnai.

 

Now Here's A Really Cute Thing:

First...The Standing Pilot-lite on any the Old-style Heaters uses enough fuel to light up the City of New York for about a Century (about 1/3 of your gas consumed)! I can't believe that anyone would manufacture a product that would waste, waste, waste so much of your money right up the chimney even when it is NOT being used - just another example of Corporate Idiocy and Greed in producing a CHEAP gas heater.
