The Toyos are Wonderful and Puuuuuuuuuurfect Heaters...But, there is one little thing that you ABSOLUTELY need to know about and take care of that is NOT the fault of the Toyo Heater:
In the manual, Toyo tells you to keep the clock set so that at 2am the Heater will go into an Automatic-Cleaning-Cycle. What this is, is NOT is a Burning-cycle that cleans the Heater. Rather it is a 10-minute Igniter Burn-off that cleans the soot and tar off the Ignitor only. This seems perfectly logical in the winter when the Heater is running a lot and could accumulate soot and tar on the Ignitor; but why bother in the summer when you are not using it? - That's the problem!
In the summer, something else happens - Caustic Moisture and Acid builds in the Blower-motor assembly from daily humidity in the air that can possibly eat up and destroy that all-important and expensive Blower-motor Assembly.
To keep the Heater safe in the summer from moisture problems...Simply make sure that at ALL TIMES the clock is set and correct. Program the heater (keep the clock set) so that the heater comes on once a week on HIGH for 15 minutes to burn off any moisture and acid build-up in the System. By doing this Summer De-moisturizing Cycle, the Heater will be just fine and you will have fewer problems. Remember - this must be done every week of the Summer to keep your Toyo up to snuff and Acid-free.
Now why does NOT Toyo (as wonderful as their products are) emphasize this Moisture-purge as I do and put out a bulletin as I am doing now...Simple: They love selling parts and do NOT love you (in reality they are just a bunch of Corporate dinks- I know them well!). They are just another Corporation selling stuff and do not really give a hoot about you like Al's Heating does !!!
